Any observer would naturally conclude that I'm obsessed with flowers. They're in most of my work for decades now. You could imagine my studio or home populated with flowers everywhere. The truth is the exact opposite. Although I love flowers, my use of them is wholly as an abstraction of forms and light and as metaphors of the spiritual realms and processes of the universe.
Creating mixed-media works of flowers over the years was not about making a series (unless specifically so, like the Split Pop™ series), but a prolonged exploration without any intent for them to be viewed together.
In retrospect, it's interesting to see the progression and evolution of their use as metaphors and how I continue to further explore their execution, from realism to more fluid forms.
